Find Your Vehicle's Towing Capacity
Max Towing Capacity (lbs)
⚠️ Important: Max towing capacity includes passenger weight, accessories, fluids in tanks, and cargo such as food, clothes, chairs, grills, tools, etc. Always confirm your specific vehicle's towing capacity directly from the manufacturer before purchasing or towing an RV. You are responsible for safe towing decisions.
Terms & Definitions
Dry Weight / Shipped Weight
The weight of the RV as delivered from the factory — without passengers, fresh water, cargo, or dealer-added options.
Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW)
The actual combined weight of the RV and everything inside it at a given moment — passengers, water, food, gear, and fuel.
Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR)
The maximum safe operating weight of the vehicle as specified by the manufacturer. Never exceed this number.
Cargo Weight
Everything you add after purchase — passengers, food, clothing, tools, water, etc. GVWR minus dry weight gives your maximum cargo weight.
Tongue / Hitch Weight
The downward force the trailer tongue exerts on your hitch ball. Typically 10–15% of the loaded trailer weight.
Pin Weight
The equivalent of tongue weight for fifth-wheel trailers — the downward force the kingpin exerts on the fifth-wheel hitch in the truck bed.
Payload Capacity
The maximum load (passengers + cargo) your tow vehicle can carry. Tongue/pin weight counts against your payload.
Max Towing Capacity
The maximum weight your vehicle is rated to tow. The most important number to check before purchasing any RV.
